Sunday Evening Rambling
I hope everyone had a good weekend. Among other errands, I was able to swing by the Best Buy in Peoria and pick up DVDs of The Incredibles, Supeman: The Annotated Series Season 1 and The Mark of Zorro.
- Superman: The Animated Series had the best version of Krypton, pre-Byrne or post-Byrne. It’s a fun series to watch, with some clever lines. What kid is going to know who Nietzsche was? Plus — need I say it — Dana Delaney as Lois Lane.
- The Mark of Zorro is the best Zorro film ever (though I admit to not having seen the Douglas Fairbanks silent). A favorite of Bruce Wayne’s too.
- Watched the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy tonight. Not bad, but not great. So far the show seems to be using surgeon and physician interchangeably, and the different types of surgeons interchangeably as well. And a seven year residency? Surgery is usually five (six if you do a research year, more if you specialize). Reminds me of the Medicine Ball — that show on Fox about 10 years back. Overall, I’ll stick with House.
- For the next week, the Polite Wife and I are going to be on vacation out East. I doubt I’ll be anywhere near a computer, but thanks to WordPress, I’ve been able to write posts in advance, and have them published at the appropriate times. This does mean that I will be slow in approving comments (if they get lost in that “possible spam comment” limbo) or returning e-mails.
- Anyway, this coming week is:

(and not just because it’s National Doctors’ Week)

Have to agree on Mark of Zorro - however, is it just me, or have some comic retellings of Batman’s origin switched it to “Mask of Zorro”?
(No, not foretelling the 1998 Banderas/Hopkins film - mostly to give it a more “generic” title. My memory could be wrong, however)
Besides, any movie that gives a great dual performance by Tyrone Power (foppish secret identity/dashing hero) and which influences Batman’s writing can’t be all bad.
