I believe there was a mutant drug introduced in Uncanny X-men as well. It may have been MGH and Bendis ran with it though.
I don’t have my issues of Joe Casey’s run at hand to check, but if I can find them I’ll let you know.

I think you’re right. MGH didn’t start in Daredevil, it was just the most recent appearance of the drug.

Xenite was also the mineral/drug being mined by the Troglyte’s in the original STAR TREK episode, “The Cloud Minders”.
