Frequent contender Maxwell Lord is back in this scene from Booster Gold #9 and telepathically dueling with J’onn J’onzz, the Martian Manhunter. Both have had their share of psychic nosebleeds, so there’s no way this duel wasn’t going to end up a two hanky battle.

Is it me or does Max have a nosebleed in EVERY comic he’s been in since Countdown To Infinite Crisis?
I’d comment on others he’s been in, but that was the first comic I read with him in…

He gets a nosebleed just about anytime he uses his mind control powers. He might’ve gone the occasional issue without it, back in the ’80s/’90s, but yeah, since Countdown to Infinite Crisis, he’s been hitting the mind control pretty much non-stop.
Which, come to think of it, makes me wonder how he’s gone so long without sleep, since I’m pretty sure it’s been at least implied that his power turns off when he’s unconscious, which would free Superman from his control.

Why didn’t J’onn just induce a hallucination in Max causing him to think he HAD won, then deage him down to a foetus and sell him to a passing intergalactic megalomaniac?
