Your Weekend Moment of Nosebleed Zen: Nate Grey (Again)
Another example of the psychic nosebleed courtesy of Nate Gray, the eponymous “X-Man.” In this scene from X-Man #18, Nate is having a psychic battle with Mr. Sinister, and losing.
The script is by Terry Kavanagh with pencils by Steve Skroce. This issue marks the beginning of the Onslaught storyline, at least in this title. To drive the point home, there is a feature in the back about Jim Lee’s redesign of the Fantastic Four (which was probably the least offensive of the Heroes Reborn comics, though I surprisingly enjoyed Iron Man as well — it’s the only time that I can remember liking Whilce Portacio’s art) All previous Psychic Nosebleed Zen posts |

That particular half of the Heroes Reborn phenomenon was indeed surprisingly enjoyable. Living in England, one of my first ever introductions to Marvel Comics were the British magazines that reprinted the original American comics. There was one specifically about the HR comics, but the editors thoughtfully declined to include any of the Reborn Cap or Avengers comics (unless crossovers dictated otherwise). For me personally at least, it left me with more pleasant memories of the whole HR event (especially once, bizarrely, the British HR mag stretched to include the regular 616-universe issues of The Incredible Hulk, which was going through a good Peter David phase at the time) and so I always enjoy seeing the HR event being remembered as not a complete disaster.
