Hawk (or Dove) in The All New Atom #13

Scene from All-New Atom #13

Here’s a scene from inside the mysterious icosahedron (“Have In”) from The All New Atom #13 that features a parade of deceased heroes (with jet packs!). In the lower left corner you’ll notice Hawk flying along*.

But is it Hawk, or a mis-colored Dove? The costume has some features of both of their outfits, but doesn’t quite match either — although it seems closer to Dove’s to me. Plus I can see at least two other coloring errors on the page. Since Hawk died as Extant, you’d think he’d come back as a villain or in a different costume, but then there’s already been one appearance of dead Hank in Hawk’s costume in Teen Titans. Just a little food for thought from an unrepentant Hawk and Dove fanboy…

SPOILER TEXT: Of course, they’re all ultimately exposed as artificial constructs, so it’s a moot point.

*As far as I can tell, the parade consists of — from roughly right to left — a Flash, a Rocket Red, Frankenstein’s Monster Frankenstein Jr., Isis, Crimson Dynamo Crimson Avenger, Vigilante, Skyman, Red Bee, Hawkwoman, Phantom Lady, some distant female figure (I’m guessing Terra, but that doesn’t seem quite right), Hawk, Judo Master, and Starman (another guess as the costume doesn’t quite match). On the ground watching are Donna Troy, the Atom, Jason Todd, a Monitor, and Ted Kord.

  1. Is that not the Spirit in the top middle?

  2. I’d guess it’s not Frankenstein’s Monster, but rather the Frankenstein-alike from the World War II version of the Creature Commandos.

  3. Naw, it’s that Frankenstein Jr. (Teen Titan) who died in the WWIII mini.

And I think you mean “Crimson Avenger”, not Dynamo.

  4. That’s the Crimson Avenger, not the Crimson Dynamo (who was an Iron Man villain). And definitely not the Spirit, who isn’t an in-continuity DC character and never wore a cape.

  5. Oh, and that Frankenstein Monster figure may be Young Frankenstein from the recent Teen Titans storyline.

  6. The Frankenstein’s Monster is likely Kid Frankenstein who was one of the sacrifces used to show how crazy badass Black Adam was supposed to be in WW3. Which makes Terra possible as well, since the she was gacked during that shitty story as well…

  7. A “Young Frankenstein” died in WWIII. That’s probably him.

  8. Why don’t you ask the artist? (Who is the artist, anyway?)

  9. Silly question. We don’t know the “secret origin” of Titan-for-ten-minutes Young Frankenstein, but he appears to be a teenage Frankenstein’s monster type. Sine Frankenstein’s monster’s types–even those in the DCU–are reanimated composite corpses, stitched together from various pieces of different corpses, can he Young Frankenstein be dead? He only had his arms ripped off…couldn’t they just be sewn back on? Can Frankenstein’s monster types die of blood-loss? And how do they end up in heaven/the afterlife/wherever? Does he have his own soul, or would the souls of the various pieces of him show up instead?

This panel has so many irritating quetions…it’s like a mental scab I can’t stop picking at.
