Discussion questions:
1. If Dr. Dazzler has been to the circus many times before as the doctor on call, why is he still an intern? Does the circus come to town that often, or has he been an intern for a
long time?
2. Does Dan really think he can suck all that poison out through that tiny straw? Personally, I would tie the tourniquet and then just take her to the hospital ASAP.
3. Wouldn’t this story be so much better if it featured the Flying Graysons instead of the Zooming Zamprellis, and Dr. Dazzler just happened to be there the night Dick Grayson’s parents were killed? He could have tried to save them, but to no avail. That would be great!
4. Does John Philip Sousa know that the ringmaster stole his outfit?

*Dr. Dan Dazzler was the four-page back-up comic that ran in Dell’s Ben Casey comic book. Further adventures and information on Dr. Dazzler can be found here.

  1. We really do live in a different era. Who in this day and age actually “looks forward” to the circus? I mean, they’re nice and all, but they’re just sort of there, not something that you really anticipate or whatever. That’s like someone saying that they’ve been waiting all week to drink a Sprite, or something.

  2. Good to know that the intrepid Dan Dazzler carries around a large enough selection of anti-venom to combat that exact species of snake.

  3. Um, Dazzler doesn’t use an any antivenin. He just uses the now-discredited tourniquet-and-suction first aid system. I’m surprised the Polite Doctor didn’t point out that this is no longer recommended.

  4. Uhh… he did use anti-venin. It’s in the last panel of the third page.

  5. Wow– until just now, I seriously thought the word was “anti-venom.” Comics blogs are so educational!

  6. So - is he obsessed with the Zamperillis because something gets in the way everytime he’s the on-call doctor,
because otherwise I’m puzzled that they can be such a must-see act while simulaneously being in tha
“11th greatest show on earth?” Or is Dan stalking one of them. A lot of tropes in this comic
can be explained by stalking/obsession, and that worries me.
