Trick answer! A woefully under-appreciated sitcom starring Matt “Max Headroom” Frewer! (Not to mention the underappreciated Julius “Lord Bowler” Carry!)
(Murmur is/was a medical doctor? Just when I think that Johns can’t get anymore pathological…)

Other trick answer: I believe there was a Doctor Doctor in Simpsons comics (in which he is a comicbook character)
And it’s Ludgate, not Ludget.

Doctor Doctor was also a US TV sitcom starring Matt Frewer, aka Max Headroom.
That this came to mind so readily is pretty pathetic.
